Jacob Hartranft
Jacob Hartranft is a 5th grade teacher at Bayard Rustin Elementary School in Rockville, MD. Jacob graduated from Penn State in 2016 with a Bachelors of Arts in Music and holds a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a certificate in Special Education from the University of Maryland. Jacob is in his 7th year working in the Montgomery County Public School system-he is in his 3rd year as a classroom teacher, 3 years as a special education paraeducator, and 1 year as a long term substitute teacher. He is passionate about incorporating music into his classroom routines and lessons daily.
Outside of MCPS, Jacob teaches private guitar lessons and previously low brass lessons. Jacob performs as a trombonist with the Trinity Chamber Orchestra in Washington D.C. and has performed as a bass trombonist with the Maryland Band Director’s Band. Jacob and his wife, Hannah reside in Gaithersburg, Maryland with their dog Barkley and cat Gabe. In his free time, Jacob plays as an Ice hockey goalie, enjoys riding motorcycles and is currently obtaining his private pilot’s license.
