Trombone Labor Days 2024
The tradition continues, as Jennifer Wharton and John Fedchock star as guest performers for the 2024 Trombone Labor Days at Penn State, joined by the PSU class of 2012 alums Bryan Powell and Ryan Rongone.
Professor Mark Lusk Retires from Penn State University
“Professor Mark Lusk joined the Penn State School of Music faculty in 1986. His illustrious performance credentials include playing with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Broadway shows such as Little Women, Les Misérables, and The Phantom of the Opera, and serving as the first trombone soloist in the history of Teatro Colon (Argentina).
But what Professor Lusk would consider his most important professional legacy is the more than 180 alumni whom he considers a second family.”
As part of that family, we in the Penn State Trombone Studio are honored to have had such an incredible man, mentor, and musician as Mark Lusk. What he has established and maintained during his tenure at Penn State is an unbreakable family and community of musicians - and the musical passion he has shared with us is something that we will all carry forever.
While he is no longer faculty at Penn State, Mark Lusk’s monumental impact on our studio and the Penn State School of Music will persist. Because with this family of students and alumni exists an unbreakable mantra which will continue to unite us:
“If you put the music first, good things will happen.”
