Schedule of Events

Saturday evening,

August 31st

12:00-12:30 p.m.
Members of the Penn State Trombone Studio will be featured performers at the President’s Tailgate held at the Schreyer’s House, home of our University President.

8:00-10:00 p.m.
There will be an open reading session with our special guests and alumni. Our current trombone studio members will have the chance to play along with us as we prepared for the Tribute To J.J. Johnson and
Kai Winding
concert the next night. This will hopefully truly enhance their experience as they listen to our outstanding guests!

Sunday, September 1st

1:30-2:00 p.m. 
There will be an open rehearsal featuring all of our alumni guests along with the current Penn State Trombone Choir where we will be putting together a wonderful arrangement of Bein’ Green as performed by the legendary George Roberts and Bones West. We will ending the evening concert with this great chart as a tribute to Mark Ballora, a faculty member we just lost way to young, yet another awesome opportunity for the students to observe these professionals in action!

2:00-4:00 p.m.
This time will be an open discussion with between our guests and alumni, with all their collective experieince and our students who are eager to understand what it take to be successful in today's music business. 

5:00-7:00 p.m.
Open dress rehearsal/sound check with our guests and alumni soloists and the Penn State Jazz Bone Forum,
this time with our outsanding rhythm section:
Stephen Rudolph, piano
Joshua Davis, bass
Marko Marcinko, drums

7:30 p.m.
Tribute to J.J. Johnson and Kai Winding
Featuring Connor Frederick, our new Graduate Teaching Assistant along with guest alumni; Sean Durkin BM ’13 MM ’15, Ryan Smith BME ’17, Brad Snyder BM ’16 and Jay Vonada, Local Jazz Artist.

The concert will also feature live FaceTime conversations with two legendary trombonists:
Dick Lieb and Dick Nash
 

Monday, September 3rd

2:00 p.m.
Professor Lusk's 64th Faculty Trombone Recital
